I love listening to good speakers. I love to learn and I like to be entertained too. But I also try not to have unrealistic expectations. I know what it's like to be on the mic side of the podium.
I always try to give body language feedback. I mean, a speaker can tell when everyone is bored by their body language. Nothing strikes more fear in the heart of a speaker. So I try to remember that when Im the audience.
It's a big responsibility to impart wisdom, courage, humor and information to an audience. I take it seriously, as I do my writing. I am thankful for all the great speakers I have learned from.
Just some thoughts as I prepare my talks.
I'll let you know how it goes :)
I'm happy for you that the Lord is opening door for speaking, Jan.
ReplyDeleteCommunication is a tricky tool, isn't it? There's a bit more pressure speaking, because we can't edit before it gets to our audience!
I pray you connect well with these ladies, and they know more of God's love for them through you.
Blessings,
Jen
thanks Jen, I love what you said about not self-editing when we speak. I need to do more of that!
