How are you going to publish?

"Between 2008 and 2010, as many customers have transitioned to shopping online and e-books sales have grown exponentially, online retail has become a major segment for book publishers." paidcontent.org

I have put off thinking about e-books and the possibility of producing my future projects that way. I am an avid "hold it in your hand and smell the print on the page" kind of reader. But I know it's coming my way. Im going to have to catch up with the new millennium. It seems that all the publishing sites are filled with articles about how self-publishing and e-books are the wave of the future.

Im ready to consider it. If that's the way to reach people with the message God has given me, so be it. Who am I to say there is only one way to publish?

For now I will continue to submit to agents and editors, but I know that by the first of the year I want to make a decision about publishing. If I haven't yet caught the eye of the publishing world I will most likely self-pub. As I am speaking more and more, I find I really want to have book in hand to share and have for sale. Im 57 years old and dont want to wait - (unless God thinks I should.) :)

What about you? Are you considering e-book or self-pub or both? Are you in a bit of a hurry like me or are you willing to wait all the time it takes to go through traditional publishing?

  1. Yes, it's certainly a changing world. I have not tried e-publishing yet but I think, I too may well be coming round to it. I was reading up on Amazon's kindle publishing, the other day, and that sounds feasable to me.

  2. After listening to a very good interview between Michael Hyatt and Seth Godin, I'm taking their advice and giving my first book away - in e form. I too, love real books, and hope it goes to print someday. But I'm trying to take the lead from the experts on how the publishing world is changing.
