I participated in a church service in the park last Sunday,
playing my piano and singing. Our long-time Pastor friend preached a great
message. He talked about I Corinthians 9. The main point being Paul’s
admonition to keep our eye on the prize.
But what is the prize and why is it important?
Everyone has a different goal or race to run, but we must
always remember that we are running to win. Nothing less than first place will
do. It’s hard work and feeling sorry for ourselves will only stop us from
attaining the excellence that moves us forward to our goal.
But we are more likely to advance when we understand the
value of the prize. It must have value if it is to give us the meaning we all
long for.
What is your prize and what value does it hold for you? Is
it publication for your book? Is it finally landing that perfect speaking
opportunity? If the prize is valuable enough, you will hold it near and dear to
your heart and never let it leave your sight.
This is how we succeed – by valuing the prize.

What a wonderful reminder, Jan! Thanks so much for always making me think. :)
