I found an interesting article by Sally Stuart on trends. She would be the one to ask! She has spent many years informing all of us who write-to-publish, how to go about making our way through this business. Here are some key points from her article.
- Publishers are buying up other publishers - the same for bookstores.
- Ebook sales took a 116% jump from January 2010 to January 2011.
- The average book in the Christian market sells about 4K - 5K - and many less than 1K.
- The average reader of Christian books is between ages 30 and 60.
So the bottom line is pay attention and get better at your craft and keep submitting. That's a trend that will never go away.
Do you pay attention to trends?
Hi Jan -
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I'm all that thrilled about the trend in ebooks, but I guess progress marches on. While I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase an eReader, I wouldn't mind winning one on a blog. :)
Blessings,
Susan
Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteIm with you on winning one from a blog. I do have an Ipad and I downloaded a couple books to read. But I always go back to the "book in hand" method. I know many others feel the same way, but we cant deny the trend is growing in popularity.
Good to hear from you.
