I can't stress enough how important conferences are to writers. They are not only great fun, but it's where you will learn about the industry and have a chance to grow in your craft. Any serious writer should attend a conference now and then.
Find a conference in your area and start praying about going.
Have you gone to many conferences? What was your good and bad experiences?

I love conferences! I learned more in a one weekend conference from an enthusiastic speaker than I did in a semester college course from a bored and boring professor. It also is a crucial step in getting published since editors don't accept random manuscripts anymore, those days are gone. To meet the right people face to face you need to attend conferences. Thanks for working so hard to promote careers for other writers, Jan!

God has used conferences to jet my writing career into a faster lane than I could have done otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI met my agent at a conference, an editor who liked my humor and continues to buy my work, and the publisher for my book! Face-to-face meetings are invaluable, and you learn so much from the workshops and general sessions.
Not to mention soaking up fellowship with like-minded wordaholics. That's the best part of a writers conference!
And--toot toot!--I will be teaching "Time Management Secrets for Part-time Writers" at this one. I am so thrilled and eager to be part of it!
Hi Jan, Thanks for your comment on my blog yesterday. :) I was reading about your conference and may be in touch with you. My family recently moved to S.V. and I would eventually like to be part of a writers group after the dust settles. :) Blessings to you, Take care, Hester :)
